Something I noticed

I was watching an episode of True Life last night, and one of the people goes on a bowling date. It seems like these shows (reality) always have people going on bowling dates.  I don't think people really bowl that much, but maybe the producers suggest it because there's lots of space and it's easier to shoot and crowd control. Maybe the places are so empty too that it's easy to get permission to shoot.

Too Hot

This heat truly is oppressive. It makes me crazy.  My poor cat wanders the house howling, looking for a cool place to rest, but never finding one.

On an unrelated note, I just ate two tamales from the Tamale Lady. One pork, one cheese.

Free Sandwich Report

I had the free Southern Style Chicken Sandwich.  You had to buy a medium soda, which cost $1.69.  I wanted Diet Coke, but they were out, so I got Regular. I wasn't very happy about that. A friend in Colorado called while I was there to report that he bought two sodas so he could eat two of the sandwiches.  He was wondering how much they cost normally ($2.99).  I screened him because I didn't want to talk in a crowded McDonald's. He also had one of the biscuit ones for breakfast earlier today.

Free Chicken Update

A friend in Colorado reports that you have to buy a non-refillable soda for $1.35 to get the free Southern Style Chicken Sandwich at McDonald's. I don't think I believe him. I think the soda is refillable.

Free McDonald's

McDonald's is having some kind of free Southern Style Chicken Sandwich thing today. I think you have to buy fries and a drink, but then the sandwich is free. Also applies to their morning biscuit chicken sandwich thing.

What I want

I want my desktop icons to slide around with a certain level of inertia. Kind of like on the iPhone when you slide the scroll bar and it continues on a little bit. I want to be able to flick an icon or a scroll bar on the Mac and have it continue on a little bit. You'd be able to grab a bunch of icons on the desktop (folders, files, whatever) and "flick" them into a corner rather than dragging them. The OS could automatically organize them in some way so they didn't just sit on top of each other. It would be like shuffleboard almost, but with adjustable levels over friction or slipperiness. Does that exist in some form?

Quiznos Deal

Quiznos has a $5 large sandwich deal. Only certain sandwiches qualify, and it's not a combo (you can make it one for $2 extra). I guess this is to compete with Subway's $5 deal. The Quiznos sandwiches are pretty big, but I think only two or three qualify for the deal. Quiznos also has a "Sammys" deal for $5.99, which is a combo, so you get chips or cookie and a drink too. Sammys are little flatbread foldover sandwiches. Pretty good. Not very big, but you get two in the combo, so it makes for a reasonably-priced lunch. Also, you don't get too stuffed, so you won't feel sick/tired when you get back to work. Another reason I like Quiznos is that they have Diet Mountain Dew on tap, which is very rare to find. I also like their peppercinis and pickles that they leave out for adding to your sandwich. That's all I have to say on this subject.
